Mick Matters

Following the death of MiK Gillespie in the centre of Hinckley Town earlier this year, the plight of homeless people in the county came to the forefront. With schemes such as No Second Night Out and various groups set up to work along side local homeless charities and organizations.

Hinckley Helpers are proud to say that we have been involved with many of these groups. Recently Emma L has been making up care packages to distribute around Hinckley working with the group Mick Matters.

To date they have made up 12 of these care packages and are always on the look out for more items so they can make more up. The last time they were distributed there were 23 of them given out.

Here is an example of some of the things that are included in the care packages.

A big thank you to the lovely people at Lloyds Pharmacy for their kind donation of a bottle of perfume for a raffle prize. As soon as we get more donations we will be holding a raffle to raise funds for our care packs and new baby hampers.

What about a Uniform?

We would like to get some uniforms printed so that when we are fundraising, canvasing or taking part in events you all know who we are. However these are expensive.

Do you know anyone who would be willing to sponsor us? In exchange for them paying for the T-shirts we would have their logo on them as well as an entry on the blog with their logo and links listed on our thank you page.

Donation Requests

We have been contacted via our Facebook group to ask if we have any Household items such as mirrors, cushions, bedding, kitchenware.

Clothing items are always welcome, Adults, Maternity Wear, Young Adults, Children’s and Babies. We sort them into sizes and store ready for referrals. Although we will often donate to Achieve With Us

Baby Items such as Baby Baths, Sterilizers, Toys, Toiletries, Nappies, Bottles, Play Mats, Cots and Moses Baskets. These are given to New Mums in need, Vulnerable Young Mums and those on a low income or having issue with Benefits.

Larger Items, occasionally we will get requests for things such as beds, washing machines, Sofa’s etc. Unfortunately we can’t always store these items ready for a referral however we can arrange for another local Charity to benefit from them.

What Donations Do We Accept?

We are happy to accept donations big or small as the people we help all need very different things.

For our Homeless Shelter we are always in need of ‘care packages’ these include; Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Deodorants, Shampoo, Conditioner, Soaps and Shower Gels.
We also are always on the look out for items of clothing that are suitable for Young Adults.

When our young people are given a home we need items to help set them up. Furniture, Home Decor, Kitchenware etc

We would love to help get the Cook Off up and running again so any donations of food would be gratefully recieved.

Yummy Tots Fundraiser

We are hoping to have a table at the Yummy tots Fundraiser on 28th November, to be held at Wykin and District Social Club & Institution. It starts at 9am and finishes at 2pm.

For our table we are looking for donations of Bric-a-Brac, books, soft toys, clothing and anything else that we would be able to see on. We are also looking for a sponsor to pay for the stall.

The money raised will be used to pay for administration costs and to top up hampers if we do not have enough donations of toiletries.
